The ARK Fleet was filled with all sections of Golgafrinchan society when their world was threatened with destruction. ARK 'A' carried all the people who thought and made decisions, ARK 'C' carried all the people who made things and ARK 'B' carried all the other people such as telephone sanitizers, hairdressers, jingle writers, accountants etc. Strangely, ARK 'B' was launched first and, for some reason unknown to the crew, was programmed to crash on the planet Earth 2 million years ago.
