The Drug Dealer...
Picture the scene, a quiet suburban cul-de-sac populated by normal families going about their normal day to day business. Then, one day, a family moves into one of the houses which has been put on the rental market by the previous owners who have moved abroad to make a new life.
Initially, the new family, a father, mother and three children appeared to be a friendly group but, their behaviour rapidly went downhill. It took a year to realise what was going on in their house and when the evidence was put together, a shocking discovery was made!
The eldest son of the family appeared to be a drug dealer! It became obvious that he did not go to work and spent all his time online gaming, often with groups of cronies who made a lot of noise. The gaming room was on the front of the house facing other houses in the street and the windows of the gaming room were always open, even in the depths of winter.
The noise of their whooping and shouting could often be heard late into the night and once went on for twenty four hours. Gradually, indications that something else was going on began to appear.
Here are some of the clues, which, in isolation seem quite innocuous but put together, clearly indicate what was going on:
- On a regular basis, usually once a week, a large, expensive Mercedes
Benz driven by two Asian men would visit the house. The men would stay
for about thirty minutes and then leave.
- The eldest son would leave the house and walk down the close and
then return to the house, usually about five minutes later. He would
usually be accompanied by one or two of his cronies. He rarely left the
house at any other time.
- A CCTV camera was installed on the front of the house, not
overlooking the property but, pointing straight down the street to where
it began. This always seemed strange but it was clearly there to see
anyone who drove up the cul-de-sac.
- Young boys and teenagers on bicycles would ride up to the open
window of the gaming room during the evening and, as it was later
discovered, throughout the night. They would ride up to the window,
spend a minute or two there and then ride off, only to return again
later.
- Sometimes arguments could be heard between the eldest son, or one of
his cronies and the visiting cyclists. This would usually result in the
riders shouting abuse as they rode off.
It would be fair to assume that the eldest son's short trips out of the house were to meet others out of sight of the other residents in the street. It would also be fair to assume that the young cyclists were collecting something from the property. It was almost certainly drugs which were being delivered by the Asian men in the expensive car.
The family moved out after a year in the property thankfully and a nice young couple purchased the property.
